The phase that translates your ideas into a technical blueprint that outlines the pool’s dimensions, depth, and structural requirements. These documents specify the engineering standards needed for the shell, such as concrete strength and steel reinforcement, to ensure the structure is built to last. Most importantly, this stage secures legal approval from the city by proving the design meets all safety regulations, including proper fencing, drainage, and utility setbacks.
Planning & Permitting
This is where the heavy lifting begins as specialized machinery carves the pool's shape directly into the earth. During this stage, thousands of pounds of soil are removed and hauled away to create a clean, precise hole that accounts for the thickness of the future concrete shell. This process requires careful management to ensure the ground remains stable and that the site is cleared for the structural work ahead.
Excavation
Provides the structural skeleton of the pool, using a grid of rebar to ensure the concrete shell can handle immense water pressure. Wooden forms are built around the perimeter to establish the exact elevation and "bond beam" of the pool, while the steel cage is meticulously tied together to prevent future shifting or cracking. This critical step reinforces the entire shape and prepares the site for the plumbing and electrical conduits that will be integrated into the framework.
Steel & Forming
This phase installs the "veins" of the pool, running PVC pipes and electrical conduits through the steel framework before the concrete is poured. Heavy-duty plumbing lines are laid for the main drains, skimmers, and return jets, while waterproof conduits are positioned to power the pool lights and integrated spa systems. Once everything is in place, the system is pressurized and tested for leaks to ensure the mechanical infrastructure is perfectly sealed within the structure.
Plumbing & Electrical
A dramatic stage where the pool’s permanent shell is formed by spraying concrete at high velocity over the rebar skeleton. Skilled nozzle-men layer the material to create thick, structural walls and floors, hand-sculpting features like steps, benches, and sun shelves in the process. After the application, the new shell must be "water cured" by being hosed down several times a day for a week, allowing the concrete to hydrate slowly and reach its maximum structural strength.
Shotcrete
Following the structural curing of the shell, comes the stage which introduces the definitive waterline and the pool’s finished edge. Masons meticulously install a non-porous ceramic or glass tile band along the top 6 inches of the pool, preventing calcium and mineral scaling from staining the plaster at the fluctuating water level. Simultaneously, the "coping"—the decorative stone, safety grip, or concrete cap—is set on the bond beam, creating a functional boundary that channels deck water away from the pool while providing the finished profile that transitions seamlessly into the surrounding patio.
Tile & Coping
The final waterproof membrane to the pool shell using either a smooth plaster or a durable PebbleTec aggregate. Skilled crews hand-trowel these specialized mixtures over the rough gunite to seal the structure and establish the final water color and texture. This stage is extremely time-sensitive; the pool must begin filling with water immediately after the application is finished to prevent the new surface from cracking or shadowing in the heat.
Interior Finish
The is the final, vital step where the pool is filled with fresh water immediately following the interior finish to ensure the surface cures correctly under pressure. Once the vessel is full, we will balance the water chemistry and provide a comprehensive walk-through of your new equipment and maintenance routines. After we instruct you on these basic functions, we want to express our deepest gratitude; it has been an honor to bring this vision to life, and we thank you for choosing Sparkling Touch for your project. We truly hope you and your loved ones enjoy your new dream retreat to the fullest extent for many years to come!
